About

Texas born and raised, DJ Chorizo Funk, is one of the premiere sound selectors in the Lone Star state.

His deep passion for music and technical skill behind the turntables guarantee a soulful experience for music lovers and dancers. He's able to seamlessly mix and connect the dots amongst a wide range of genres such as Afro- Latin, Afrobeat, Funk, Soul, Hip Hop, and more.

Chorizo Funk, a 2013 Austin Chronicle Best of Austin winner, and the 2012 Lords of Wax champion, embodies the old school definition of a DJ: technical skill with his hands and musical knowledge. In his hometown of Austin he is highly regarded for his love of vinyl, party-rocking ability, and hard work behind the turntables.

A member of Peligrosa, the longest running Latin dance party in Texas, his Latin music mixes have been featured in Remezcla, Sound and Colour and Okayplayer because of his unique blend of Cuban, Mexican, Puerto Rican, Colombian, and Venezuelan varieties of Cumbia, Salsa, and Tropical Bass. He is comfortable with classic and traditional styles and exploring the new sounds of tropical bass producers from around the world.

DJ Chorizo Funk is also resident DJ and founding member of Body Rock ATX, a monthly first Friday dance party. He founded the party with Riders Against the Storm, award winning Austin hip hop duo. Together via Body Rock ATX, they have created a dance party with unmistakable energy where you can find Austinites from various backgrounds coming together as one nation under the groove.
